The City of Leeds is far more rural than most people expect. North and east of the ring road you are quickly into farmland, and the calendar reflects it: the Otley Show opens the season each May, Bramham Park hosts international horse trials, and village fetes, ploughing matches and farm open days fill the summer weekends between. All of them need toilets, and most of them sit in fields with no mains drainage for miles.
Suppliers listed on LooLocator quote for exactly this kind of work. For a rural event it helps to tell them:
With that detail, local firms can recommend numbers and quote properly first time.
Not everything is a show day. Plenty of hires around Leeds run for weeks or months: a toilet for a stable yard near Wetherby, a unit serving contractors on a barn conversion in the Wharfe valley, or the more familiar builder's loo on a renovation in Headingley or Horsforth. Weekly site hire typically lands somewhere around £25 to £38 a week with a service visit included, though every supplier prices their own way.
Longer rural hires bring their own questions. Winter mud can make a weekly service run difficult, so agree the servicing day and a firm standing spot before delivery. If the unit is going behind a locked gate, the driver needs a key arrangement or a code. And if mains water and drainage are nearby, some firms can offer mains-connected cabins instead, which suit six-month projects better than a standard chemical unit.
No permission is needed on private land, so a farmyard, showground or garden is straightforward. If the unit has to stand on a public road or pavement, you will need consent from Leeds City Council first, usually a highway licence, and your supplier can often advise on the application.
Book as early as you can for May to September. Show season in the Leeds countryside starts with the Otley Show in spring and demand stays high through the Great Yorkshire Show in July and harvest events. Suppliers allocate their event units weeks ahead, so early enquiries get the best choice.
Expect roughly £25 to £38 a week for a standard unit on a site or farm, and £85 to £140 for an event weekend including delivery and collection. Prices vary with access, servicing frequency and how far out you are, so compare a couple of quotes from local suppliers.
